Looking for the best happy hour in Eagan? You’ll find it at the Lone Oak Grill
The Lone Oak Grill in Eagan dubs itself as the place for good bourbon, compliments and great food.
And we agree. We’d also like to add it’s a great place for happy hour, lunch or dinner and for craft beer enthusiasts.
With specials on appetizers, beer and cocktails, as well as occasional live music and an upbeat vibrant atmosphere, the Lone Oak Grill (located at 3010 Eagandale Pl Eagan, MN 55121/651-789-2081) provides one of Eagan’s best happy hours and is a popular place to unwind after a long day of work. While the happy hour crowd features predominantly white, balding men in their 30s and 40s who likely work in IT or product development, the Lone Oak Grill is a place where people of all ages can hang out and relax. In addition to being a popular meeting place for after work social events, The Lone Oak Grill is also a place where families with kids can enjoy a nice dinner out anytime of the week (it’s noisy – we’re just warning you, but a good noisy in our opinion) a good place for date night or to watch a Vikings or Wild game. The Lone Oak Grill also has a private party room for those group or corporate events and catering is also available and there is also a special weekend breakfast menu.
Translation: We’ve been to the Lone Oak Grill twice in the last week and have come away satisfied both times. And if you are looking to take a trip outside of Inver Grove Heights, head down Lone Oak Road to the Lone Oak Grill. It’s a short drive or Uber ride away and they also feature Last Call Car Service for those who need a safe/sober ride home and need to get their car home.
The Lone Oak Grill menu is full of outstanding appetizers, entrees, wraps, burgers, sandwiches, soups and salads. They also feature specials from the pit – such as hickory and maple chicken, duroc smoked pork chop and brisket and Kielbasa. Lunch specials range from $7 to $9. For $9 at lunch you can get the quarter chicken and ribs, slaw and fries. The chicken comes in a sauce that helps compliment the dryness of the white meat chicken. In fairness, our server did recommend the dark meat – saying it’s juicier – but the white meat chicken was still pretty tasty. The rib portions (you get two) were meaty and while we are not traditionally huge fans of that dry, smokey flavor, they were good- and those who love that smoked/bourbon flavored food will love the food at Lone Oak Grill. Even if you don’t like smokey-bourbon-barbecue-infused food, you’ll still find something you like. The Lone Oak Grill also has an extensive bourbon and whiskey list and the bourbon flights are $4 off during happy hour. And, there are specials during games – like $10 buckets of beer during Minnesota Wild games
The $7 happy hour appetizer specials include a wide variety of buffalo wings and the green chili quesadilla. When most restaurants offer reduced price happy hour appetizers, they also offer smaller portions. Not at the Lone Oak Grill. The dry rub wings are fantastic and rank as some of the best buffalo wings in Eagan. You get 12 meaty wings for only $7 – a deal that’s hard to beat. We also tried the green chili quesadilla. It’s different, but in a good way. It’s filled with green chili-braised pork, black beans, corn, red peppers and onions. The red peppers are crunchy and add a nice bite. It comes with salsa verde, which although a bit bland, is a good sauce to dip in, especially if you add sour cream as a side and mix the two together. For $5 you can get a flatbread, chips and queso, chili cheese fries and more. For $6 you get loaded tots, chicken tender basket, double cheeseburger, fried pickle chips and pizza. There’s also wine and martini specials during happy hour.
If you love craft beer, you’ll love the Lone Oak Bar and Grill. But instead of us writing about what we like (Bent Paddle Cold Press Black Ale, Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Barleywine), we recommend you check out the full craft beer menu and stop in to see what’s new on the menu as it changes over time.
Not a fan of craft beer? No worries, plenty of Bud Light, Coors Light and Miller Lite to whet the palate. While there may be some craft beer snobs in the crowd, don’t mind them, you can enjoy that domestic beer or basic cocktail and have a good time playing one of the many classic video games, such as Ms. Pac-Man, Dig Dug and Galaga, as well as Big Buck Hunter and Golden Tee.
If you are looking for somewhere new to hang and for a new vibe, check out the food, drinks and atmosphere at the Lone Oak Grill in Eagan. We think you’ll find something you are sure to like at anytime of the day or night.
