There are two McDonald’s in Inver Grove Heights.
And one of them will go through a major remodel this spring.
The McDonald’s at 5760 Cahill Avenue – off Cahill and Upper 55th on the border of IGH and SSP – is adding a second drive-thru as part of a larger project that will help modernize the popular fast food restaurant.
“In the coming months, the Cahill Avenue restaurant will begin construction to modernize and deliver a redesigned, elevated guest experience with new levels of choice, engagement, and service,” said Anne Christensen, Regional Communications Manager at McDonald’s Corporation. “When the modernization is complete this spring, guests will notice a modern look and feel with new designs and new ways of ordering with self-order kiosks. Additionally, guests’ orders will be delivered to tables by crew members, allowing customers to relax and enjoy a more custom dining experience.”
The Cahill Avenue McDonald’s was the first McDonald’s to open in IGH, opening in 1972. That restaurant is owned and operated by McDonald’s Restaurants of Minnesota. The second McDonald’s location, at 3075 80th St E, opened nearly 25 years later in 1996. That McDonald’s – located next to Cub Foods and down the street from Simley High School off of Cahill and 80th Street, is owned and operated by an independent franchisee.
So, why are there two McDonald’s in Inver Grove Heights? This article breaks it all down:
Specific dates for the start of the Cahill McDonald’s remodel have not been determined, and it’s also not known if the restaurant will have to close down for any period of time during construction.
“Unfortunately we do not have confirmed dates at this time,” said Christensen. “The restaurant may have to close for a brief time (approximately a week) but the drive-thru and/or the dining room will remain open for the remainder of the project.”
When done, it should provide IGH residents with a state-of-the-art, top of the line McDonald’s.
“We can’t wait to share the new McDonald’s experience with Inver Grove Heights area guests and look forward to offering them a new way to dine at McDonald’s,” said Christensen.
