A new pizza restaurant is coming to South Saint Paul. Work is being completed and $5 Pizza will open next to Hat Trick Liquors at 150 Southview Blvd, South St Paul, MN 55075.
There are currently 15 $5 Pizza franchises in Minnesota (Andover, Apple Valley, Blaine (2), Brooklyn Park (2), Champlin, Columbia Heights, Ramsey, Rochester, Sandstone, St. Cloud, St. Michael, Stillwater and White Bear Lake), one in Iowa and one in Texas. $5 Pizza resembles Little Caesars in its pricing and concept. The restaurant is carry out only and a one-topping pizza is only $5, while other specialty, deluxe or combo pizzas are available for an additional charge. According to the company web site:
“$5 Pizza is a competitive player in the carry-out pizza market. We are a value-orientated pizza franchise with no costs associated with having a delivery staff. $5 Pizza stores are located in suburban areas with high traffic visibility. $5 Pizza is focused on involvement and engagement in our local communities, we work closely with all types of groups including churches, schools and local charities.”
In addition, $5 Pizza offers a variety of buffalo wings, cheese bread, breadsticks and cinnamon sticks.
The $5 Pizza web site also said: “Our customers are our neighbors. We are committed to creating and nurturing a healthy, creative, respectful, and fun working environment in which our employees are fairly compensated and encouraged to respect the customer and the quality of the product we produce.”
The restaurant is also currently hiring, with information on how to apply for jobs posted on the store window. Emails to the $5 Pizza corporate office seeking additional comments were not returned.
The addition of $5 Pizza to South Saint Paul adds another restaurant to the underrated South Saint Paul restaurant scene. Outside of South Saint Paul, food critics and restaurant snobs often fail to recognize the hidden quality of South Saint Paul favorites such as Angelo’s Italian Restaurant, The Coop, T&T Galley, Al’s Corral, Illetschko’s Meats and Smokehouse, and Black Sheep Coffee Cafe, among others.
Hopefully $5 Pizza will be another quality, if nothing less affordable, pizza option for local residents.
