Looking for a good place for some cheap eats and drinks, or someplace new to hang out in Inver Grove Heights? Then check out these five places or options next time you are seeking something different:
1. Overboard Bar and Grill
Are you up for pizza and a pint on the patio on a warm summer day? How about a burger and an ice cold beer? Mix in some appetizers and a friendly crowd and you get Overboard Bar and Grill, located on the Mississippi River in Twin City Marina. Basic, simple bar food, good people, a nice deck, within a marina/river setting. The Overboard Bar and Grill isn’t just for boaters – check it out.
Overboard Bar and Grill, 4455 64th St. East, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55076. Located in Twin City Marina
2. Ruby Tuesday $2 domestic draft beers and $4 appetizer happy hour specials
We’re not talking about the endless salad bar and entrees here. Boring. We’re talking cheap beer and happy hour specials. The Ruby Tuesday bar is actually an underrated spot to throw back a few cold brews. And from 4-7 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close, those ice cold 16 ounce domestic drafts are $2 – and come in an icy cold mug. Not to mention select appetizers – chicken bites, fire wings, queso and chips, buffalo chicken tostadas, and more, are available for only $4. You could realistically have a couple beers, an appetizer and tip for $10. Not a bad deal. You don’t have to sit at the bar during happy hour, but we recommend it. You will be happy you did.
3. The deli sandwich and draft beer from Inverwood Deli (eat on the patio!)
Not a golfer? Don’t worry. Last year we highlighted the sub sandwich and Heggie pizza deals at the Inverwood Deli – $6 deli subs with chips, $2 slices of Heggies pizza. This is open to the public and a nice inexpensive place to eat. What’s better though is, getting a cold draft beer (Coors Light, Leine’s summer shandy, Blue Moon, others) for $3.50 from the clubhouse and taking it out on the patio overlooking the golf course. Peaceful – although that patio furniture at Inverwood isn’t the most comfortable. It’s a great view, relaxing, and some inexpensive food and drink at that. Check out the deli sandwich, pizza and draft beer and enjoy it on the patio at at Inverwood Golf Course. Related: Check out the sub sandwich from Hometown Meats
4. Dine-in at Carbone’s
Carbone’s isn’t overlooked in terms of ordering pizza from one of IGH’s most popular pizza places (which is better than Old World Pizza according to one reader), but most never think about dining in, or forget that you can actually sit down and eat inside the IGH Carbone’s. But Carbone’s has a cozy dine-in section with a couple booths and a table. And there’s nothing better than getting your pizza served hot, right out of the oven. Start with an appetizer (Greek feta bread) or salad (antipasto salad), and wait for your delicious pizza to be served right out of the oven. Looing for something cheap? Try the solo pizza for under $5.
5. Papa John’s online or pickup specials
Okay, you can’t dine in at the Inver Grove Heights Papa John’s, and yes, Papa John’s is a pizza chain. BUT…if you are looking for cheap pizza specials, you can often get them at Papa John’s. BUT…there is also a catch…you have to order the pizza online, or pick it up to get these specials. Don’t ever call Papa John’s an order a pizza. We did the other day and a three-topping large was going to be $23. WHAT? We cancelled. They want you to order online or pick up in the store. When the Twins win you can get 50% OFF a regular menu priced large or extra large pizza the day after a Twins win using promo code TWINSWIN. Papa John’s also advertises specials via road signs – such as the recent $6.99 one topping large pizza special. Papa John’s is arguably the best of the Inver Grove Heights chain pizza restaurants, and if you need a cheap pizza, Papa John’s presents a number of inexpensive options either online or via pick up.
